The Book of Jubilee- tells how Cain got his wife- that he married his sister. This book is left out prior to P.R. and was found with the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The Book of Enoch-tells of the fallen angels and how they came down to earth and had intercourse with woman and thus their offspring became giants. Also found with Dead Sea Scrolls and omitted before the P.R.
The Life of Adam and Eve-tells of the fall and how they tried to get back into the garden.
Numerous Gospels, including The Gospel of Peter, Gospel of Phillip, Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Nicodemus, Gospel of Egyptians, Gospel of Thomas it told about the early years of Jesus, and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, where she is portrayed as an Apostle of Jesus and that Peter went to her to find out things that Jesus only said to her. One of which was that God did not come to man through his spirit or soul but through his mind. Gospel of Nicodemus tells about the descent into hell of Jesus and how he set free the prophets, martyrs, and the righteous because he believed that all who died went directly to hell. There is also an Apocalypse of Peter in which he states that Jesus secretly told him that in the end God will pardon all those who went to hell but not to tell anyone of this or else people will just keep on sinning. It also shows the punishment in hell that is given for each particular sin.
The Protovangelian of James- a relative of Jesus and one of the heads of the Christian Church in Jerusalem. He states that in the Book of Mary, that she was a virgin until her death. This is because her husband Joseph was a widower and that the brothers and sisters of Jesus mentioned in Mark were the children of Joseph from his former marriage and not of Mary.
Note: Most of the material in these above omitted books were not only widespread and used among most early Christians but even the Muslim Koran uses similar stories, in fact they reference Mary more than the Bible.
In 393 A.D. A council of Bishops met in Northern Africa in a town called Hippo Regius.
This became known as the Council of Hippo. And it was were the first books of the Bible as we know of it today were canonized (books inspired by God) and these were again confirmed at the Council of Trent in 1546. All of the above mentioned books in this paper were omitted.
These are the rest of the books omitted by the Protestant Reformation- The Books of Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, 1 and 2 Maccabees as well as part of Esther and Daniel. These books were omitted by the Protestants because before the time of Jesus the Jews living in Palestine spoke Hebrew and those in Rome spoke Greek. The Pharisees in Palestine had 4 criteria which the sacred books had to pass 1) they had to be in harmony with the Torah. 2) they had to be written in Hebrew. 3) they had to be written before the time of Ezra. 4) they had to be written in Palestine. None of the seven books along with parts of Esther and Daniel met their criteria. Also, during the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther also rejected the Books of Hebrews, James, Jude, and Revelation. Later Protestants would reinstate these New Testament Books and therefore making the Catholic and Protestant New Testament Books identical.
