When we find Jesus we have peace with ourselves and with God. Let us listen; “Truth manifests itself, ...as it actually is”. As so it was with Saint Peter this light of His knowledge comes from the Holy Spirit of God. Once we enter into His Grace His is able to quiet the many troubles and afflictions of our hearts. He lets us see His purpose for us here on this earth-to conquer self and walk in virtue. However, every good comes out of darkness and we must endure some dark nights of our souls to become more surrendered to Him and thus more virtuous to ourselves and others.
We must learn about our sins, past, and present and how weak and powerless we all to do anything about them. We must learn that God alone can help us with our sin or sins. He alone can absolve us and give us the power to refrain from them. Our motivation for living a Holy Life must not be the end of itself, but so that we may help others in this world. Let us listen; “ He is truly great who has great charity.” This is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us, to lay down our lives as He did for us.
Let us listen; “ Do not yield to every impulse and suggestion but consider things carefully and patiently in the light of God's will.” These suggestions come at us fast and furious in our society today. Many of these we find ourselves acting on impulsively and then often find we made a mistake, because our impulsive behavior either hurt ourselves or others.
Let us listen; “Do not readily believe every talebearer”. We are bombarded by bad news today and every day, twenty four hours a day. Sometimes, no news, is good news.
Let us look more to the good that men do rather than to look and listen to the bad news of our day. We never want to become immune to evil nor make heroes out of evildoers.
