Why Are We Here?
My days are full. They are so full I could get out of bed at 2 a.m. and go until 11 p.m. and still not have enough time to do what I know God wants me to accomplish. In fact, I have done this several times.
I truly can’t imagine how anyone has the time when they are retired to play golf every day.
I was talking to a man a few days ago and he was actually bragging about doing nothing in his retirement but watching television and going to the casino. I felt very sorry for him because he is an example to me of someone who has spent their entire life here on earth and still has no clue why he was placed here. This is why I teach the little things, the little things everyone needed to be taught before they left grammar school.
If we are truly here on this earth for us to spend our golden years watching television and going to the casino, then we can fully understand why our suicide rate, alcohol, and drug addictions are so high.
But before we give the answer of why we are here, let us examine many of the answers that many people will give to this question.
We can see how we journey through life by looking closely at all of these answers because one or more most likely have applied to each of us at one time or another. And most of the answers are true and are based on facts. However, some answers bring about several emotions from anger, to depression, to feeling of grandeur.
There appears to be only one answer that alleviates anger and depression and works well with a humble heart. Number twelve.
Let us take a look, a small look, at what it means to “Know”, “Love”, and “Serve” God. I emphasize “small look” because there are many great theologians who can do a much better job at this than mere little me. But I always try. Amen?
First, one must have a desire for God. This must be a desire that comes from the heart, not just an intellectual, emotional desire.
If a man truly states that he has no desire in his heart for God then the question must be asked; how does he find “truth and happiness”?
Television and the Casino?
One can only see the world around them and they will see the beauty and majesty of God and all that He has created. And many times the artistry in the sky is so amazingly beautiful no human could duplicate the artistry.
One can look at each person and find God along with the Trinity.
Yes, many are brainwashed and perform evil but always remember that God allows His rain to fall on the just and the unjust, and that He loves everyone, especially the sinner, but He hates the sin.
God gave us a brain that has an abundant amount of faculties that enable us to learn, grow and reason. God gave us “free will”, we can choose to use our free will to “Know”, “Love”, and “Serve” God. To seek Him and once we find Him to learn more about Him. And while learning about Him we discover He is everywhere and He is Love.
When we reach this point in our journey will begin to grow in the love of God and we begin to see His love all around us. And once we reach this point in our journey, we want to “serve” this God of love and share His love with others.
This is life that becomes exciting, non boring, always interesting and ever learning. This is what Jesus meant when He said to “follow” Him because He is the “Way, the Truth, and the Life”.
“May the light of the true faith free humanity from the ignorance and slavery of sin in order to lead it to the only freedom worthy of the Name, that of life in Jesus Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, here below and in the Kingdom of heaven, in the fullness of the blessed vision of God face to face.
St. John Paul II
500 years ago a Catholic Monk became disgruntled with the Church that his Lord Jesus Christ had founded.
As with many disgruntled, Martin Luther decided to criticize the Church and then distort their teachings with Biblical error.
The Bible had been put together by the Church and the Monks preserved it. Now this man would try to write his own bible and start his own church.
But let me give you a little about my experience with Catholics and Protestants. I was raised in an Irish Catholic family. I attended Catholic grammar and high school.
In 1981 I was introduced to Jesus Christ in the Christian 12 Steps.
I remember how shocked Andy was when I told him that I had never heard about Jesus Christ even though I attended His Church hundreds of times and was taught by His Nuns and Priests. I am not saying Jesus was never taught, but I was the person who “had ears but could not hear”.
Andy gave me my first Bible and told me within its pages I would learn about Jesus. Andy told me that once I come to believe in Jesus He will manage my life. Because my life was an absolute mess which was leading me quickly to death or prison.
Andy also told me to say; “Praise God thank You Jesus” at all times whether good or bad.
Once I began reading the Bible I was hooked. I would spend every moment reading it when I was not at work. I asked God to reveal Himself to me during my reading so I could believe in Him.
Right before I began to read the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ and while on my knees praying I was Baptized in the Holy Spirit by a Mighty Rushing Wind and began to pray in what is known as “Tongues”. I also came to believe in Jesus and the Holy Trinity of God and that the Bible was Inspired by the Holy Spirit and written for Jesus and about Jesus.
I was then given a hunger and thirst to hear the Word of God. I had been listening to Christian radio and Christian music but I now wanted a Church where I could hear the Word.
I was living in Manhattan at the time and there are many denominations and Churches to try, so I tried them all.
But I could not find the Church I believed the Lord wanted me to be a member of. The first Church I went to was a Catholic Church because it was right around the corner from where I was living. I thought it was nice, but I wanted more.
One day after my search I came home very discouraged. I asked God to help me please find a Church. He told me to open the yellow pages to the Churches and He would direct my finger. The Church was not too far and was right by Madison Square Garden. I called the number and they told me a service was being held that Friday evening.
At 7 p.m. I walked up the stairs to the Church and a Woman opened the door and held out her hand and said to me; “Welcome”. I knew I was at the right Church!
The Church was Glad Tidings Tabernacle under the banner of the “Assemblies of God”
I stayed in this denomination for the next 20 years. These people are very loving and I owe so much to them, especially my prayer life that they truly emphasize with great passion.
The Christian 12 Step Recovery Program was put together here with the help of Pastor Byrd.
I have had so many good spiritual experiences and ministries at this Church but they are too numerous to mention during this blog.
Right after 9/11, a woman began to bring books to work that caught my eye. They were about many people who had found their way back to the Catholic Church. Also many books on the history of the Church along with the Church Fathers and what they believed and even a book on the “Authority” of the Church and the Crusades.
There were many ex Catholics in the Assemblies of God but they were always disgruntled about the Church or the Pope and never really mentioned what the Church taught. I never had any feelings toward the Church one way or another, I just didn’t understand it.
This woman began to introduce me to other Catholics, the Rosary, and Catholic Answers. I did not realize this but at this time the Grace of God by the Power of the Holy Spirit was drawing me back to the Church established by Jesus Christ.
It took me many years to learn and believe in ALL of the teachings of the Church, but once I did several years ago it lifted all of my lack of understanding and confusion. Not just of the Catholic Church but of the Bible and its purpose and meanings.
I also became amazed that I too was lock step in believing all the lies of the false teachers about the Catholic Church and the Holy Scriptures.
Two things had always disturbed me however in the teaching of the protestants, that I could sin as much as I desire and I should still be able to experience the Joy and Peace of Christ in my life and I will still be granted Eternal Life no matter what evil I may do in this life.
And how most protestant teachers do not give Mary any type of respect or honor after she was chosen by God to be the earth mother of Jesus and the Angel said she was; “full of Grace”.
I could not understand how these well intentioned people who seemed so right on all other points could miss the mark on these two.
And possibly most important of all, the majority of Catholics and Protestants have never read the entire Bible nor studied. But it's
the Protestants who base their “Faith” on the Bible “Alone”, and yet don’t give it any importance when it comes to reading or studying. Sound hypocritical?
I have learned that Jesus did not come to write a book but to establish a Church and He gave His “Authority” here on earth to Peter, the Apostles, and their successors to continue growing His Church until He comes again.
Martin Luther tragically split the Church that Jesus Christ established. However, as Jesus stated; “the gates of hell will never prevail against it”, and 500 years later it is growing stronger than ever.
There are about 40,000 different protestant denominations, Jesus did not come to start them, He came to start One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Amazingly, many got started because Luther would not give up his belief in the Holy Eucharist and Baptism.
Despite Luther’s moment of glory in 1517, Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to St Juan Diego in 1531 in Mexico and 10 million souls were converted. In 1534 St Ignatius of Loyola founded the Jesuits and reconverted large portions of Poland, Hungary and Southern Germany. And in 1587, the first Catholic mission opened in North America in St Augustine, Florida
Luther was not a reformer. He was a confused, angry man full of hate who viewed the Catholic Church as the “whore of Babylon” and the Pope as the “antichrist”.
Luther wanted to remove the Book of James because it stated that “faith without works is dead”. He also wanted to remove the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ and this I can understand very well because after a 5 yr study I see the Worship in Heaven exactly as the Worship during a Catholic Mass.
Attending a Catholic Mass is truly experiencing Heaven right here on earth.
Praise God thank You Jesus.
I apologize for not blogging in sometime. I recently moved and you all know how time consuming that can be. However, I daily have time for 140 characters, so I Tweet daily. I do not do facebook. Revelation of Jesus Christ
Chapter 22: 14-21
Verse # 14 = Blessed are they who wash their robes so as to have the right to the tree of life and enter the city through its gates.
Now once again we hear of the “city”, the New Jerusalem. And once again we are told we just don’t arrogantly walk through the gates of the Holy City like we deserve it. In fact, our final “Blessing” in this Book only happens after “WE” wash our robes.
But what is “our robes”? We are told in chapter 21 that nothing “unclean” will be allowed to enter the New Jerusalem. By the way, please read chapter 11 in the Book of Proverbs, it gives a good contrast between the “righteous and evil”.
Now a “robe” is something we put on. I want to keep the robe clean how do we? Where else in the Word Of God are we told to put on something? Let us read from the Book of Ephesians 6:10-18, “Finally draw your Strength from the Lord and from His Mighty Power. Put on the Armor of God so that you may be able to Stand Firm against the tactics of the devil. For our Struggle is not with Flesh and Blood but with the Principalities with the Powers, with the Evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the Armor of God, that you may be able to Resist on the evil day and have done everything to Hold your Ground; so Stand Fast with your Loins Girded in Truth, clothed with Righteousness as a Breastplate, and your Feet Shod in Readiness for the Gospel of Peace. In All Circumstances, hold Faith as a Shield, to Quench all the Flaming Arrows of the evil one. And take the Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. With all Prayer and Supplication, Pray at every opportunity in the Spirit. To that end, be Watchful with all Perseverance and Supplication for all the Holy Ones….”
Verse # 15 = Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the unchaste, the murderers, the idol - worshipers, and all who love and practice deceit.
I was very disturbed after reading this verse because I have a dog. And I know he is going to heaven. They have horses in heaven they can’t discriminate! However, upon research I found that in ancient times dog were seen as being unclean and not holy, in fact, in many parts of the world today many who still practice ancient customs actually hate dogs.
The last part of the verse I find most interesting, “all who love and practice deceit”, yes there are actually people and we know of many “who love” to deceive others, it's their vocation in life.
Verse # 16 = I Jesus, sent my angel to give you this testimony for the Churches. I am the root and offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star.”
Jesus is telling us that He is the One who sent the angel to St. John.
Where have we seen this before in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ? Let us read again from chapter 5:5, One of the elders said to me, “do not weep, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Root of David has triumphed, enabling Him to open the scroll with its Seven Seals.
Remember, unless Jesus had ancestry going back to King David He could have never been the Messiah. The heir to David’s throne is called the “root” of Jesse. Let us read from the prophet Isaiah 11:10, In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the people; the nations will rally to Him, and His resting place will be glorious.
Verse # 17 = The Spirit and Bride say, “come” let the hearer say, “come” let the one who thirsts come forward, and the one who wants it receive the gift of life-giving water.
Notice it has always been the Holy Spirit who draws people to Jesus and it is Jesus who draws people to His Church.
Verse # 18 = I warn everyone who hears the prophetic words in this Book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this Book.
Similar words are used in the Book of Deuteronomy 4:2 and Proverbs 30:6 that nothing may be altered in any way for this is the Word of God.
Verse # 19 = And if anyone takes away from the words in this prophetic Book God will take away his share in the Tree of Life and in the Holy City described in this Book.
I often tell people who praise Martin Luther for the protest reformation that the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ was one of many that he wanted to omit from the Bible.
Verse # 20 = The one who gives this testimony says, “yes, I am coming soon.” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
“Come Lord Jesus” is similar to the Aramaic expression “Maranatha” - Our Lord Come! Jesus spoke in Aramaic see 1 Corinthians 16:22
In our Bible Studies we have learned that the number Seven is used in the Bible signifying a perfection or completeness. Seven times in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ this idea of the Lord coming back to earth again is repeated to show us that this a true and perfect event that is definite! Please see again, 2:16, 3:11, 16:15, 22:7, 12, 17, 20
Verse # 21 = The Grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.
I am greatly humbled, shocked, and happy beyond belief that after 5 yrs I have completed this verse by verse study in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
I began counting my blessings to prove this Book and to date I have around 265 Blessings.
I am completed this work on the 8th of July 2017, the anniversary of both my mother’s passing and my deceased dad’s birthday.
In closing, I hope I have “made known to our brothers and sisters, still enveloped by the clouds of doubt and depression, the joyful proclamation that there has risen over the horizon of their lives ‘the Bright Morning Star, the Redeemer of man, Christ the Lord “
(St. John Paul II, Homily, 18 May 1980).
Praise God thank You Jesus!
Revelation of Jesus Christ
Verse # 6 = And He said to me, “these words are trustworthy and true, and the Lord, the God of prophetic spirits, sent His angel to show His servants what must happen soon.”
We usually believe the entire Bible is Trustworthy and True. However, what is being talked about here is the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. We must therefore, read it, listen to it, and adhere to it.
Let us read again from chapter 19:9, “Then he said to me, write: Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb! And he said to me, “these are the true sayings of God.”
We must ask ourselves this question. Is there anywhere in the Bible or any quotes by Jesus telling us to approach the Bible cafeteria style? Does it say anywhere that we can pick and choose what we feel like believing and leave the rest? I haven’t found that anywhere in the Bible. For believing in God is also believing in His Word, for God is Truth and cannot lie.
Let us read from the Book of Hebrews 10:37 “For yet a little while and He who is coming will come and will not tarry.”
Verse # 7 = “Behold, I am coming soon.” Blessed is the one who keeps the prophetic message of this book.
Jesus repeats the fact that not only is He coming back to earth again, but that He is “coming soon”. Let us read again from chapter 3:11, “Behold I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have that no one may take your crown.”
And we now receive the sixth blessing in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
This verse also seems to echo verse 28 in chapter 11 of the Gospel of Luke, …”Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and observe it. And from the Book of James 1:22, “be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves”.
Now a question must be asked, what is the prophetic message of this Book?
As I have stated many times whenever we have a question or have any confusion we can always go back to chapter one verse nineteen. In this verse, John is told to write down what he has already seen, what he presently is seeing and what will happen afterwards.
Now many will ask; “you mean to say that something that has already happened and something that is happening now can be called prophetic?” Absolutely, I am not saying it, the Word of God is saying this truth. I have taught all throughout this study the many things that St. John seen before his writing, the things that were happening in his time, and the things to come in the future.
To better understand this we must know the difference between a “prophet” and a “prophecy”.
The Greeks saw a prophet or prophetess as one who spoke for another. The Hebrew word for prophet is “NABI” meaning an interpreter of the sayings or writings of God.
A prophet in the Old Testament was one who made known the Will of God, but not necessarily always foretelling the future. The prophet usually exposed and rebuked evil.
Someone can be a prophet but now have a calling to engage in prophecy. Abraham, Moses, Samuel, Balaam, Elias, Eliseus, and Nathan.
In the New Testament we also see that some prophets had the gift of prophecy but that wasn’t their sole calling as with Zachary, St. Elizabeth, Simeon, Anna and St. John the Baptist.
In the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ we have learned that the entire Book is about Jesus Christ along with the entire Bible. The Bible was written by Him, about Him, and for Him.
St. John was not a prophet but the prophecy was given to him by the One person whose predictions have all come true and that is Jesus Christ.
Verse # 8 = It is I, John, who heard and saw these things, and when I heard and saw them I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me.
John is telling us, he is the one who has heard and seen everything written in the Book. He did not make anything up, he experienced them.
Verse # 9 = But he said to me, “don’t! I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brothers the prophets and of those who keep the message of this Book. Worship God.”
Some may now ask why didn’t John obey the angel the first time he was told not to worship anyone but God as we saw previously in chapter 19:10?
Remember, John is not in heaven. He is still a mortal, he is one of us as he is writing this Book, therefore, he is still capable of sinning and repeating the same sin over again.
Verse # 10 = Then he said to me, “Do not seal up the prophetic words of this Book, for the appointed time is near.”
Unlike the prophets Ezekiel and Daniel who were told to seal up what they had seen and heard because the appointed time was too far in the future.
Let us read again 1:3, …”for the appointed time is near.”
Verse # 11 = Let the wicked still act wickedly, and the filthy still be filthy. The righteous must still do right, and the holy still be holy.”
WOW! What is being said here? Let us breakdown this verse to try to find truth.
I believe we are being told that the time is so near that to admonish the sinner may not bear any change in such sinner. The sinner will just keep on sinning. The people who do good will continue to do good.
But who are these holy ones? Are these the same as the ones the Church makes canonized saints? We will soon find the answer.
Verse # 12 = Behold I am coming soon. I bring with me the recompense I will give to each according to his deeds.
Jesus Christ is talking in this verse. Recompense means to pay, pay back or compensate. Let us read from the Book of Isaiah 62:11, The Lord has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: “say to Daughter Zion, ‘see, your Savior comes! See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him.”
Verse # 13 = I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
We also heard God tell us this in 1:8 and in Isaiah 41:4
