Do we know what Love is? Do we know what Fear is? Do we know the author of Fear? Do we know the author of Love?
When we read a book we want to learn something and every book must have an author.
The Holy Bible tells us its author is none other than God Himself. And the Holy Bible tells us that God is Love and Satan is the author of Fear.
Now that we know who is Love and who is fear we can take a look at how they operate in our lives. An easy way to see this is in the Christian 12 Steps.
Satan = All or parts of God's creation are our problem ( people, places or things).
God = All of our problems are a result of our separation or lack of fellowship with God Himself.
Satan = We can believe in any god we think we can understand.
God= You must believe only in one God and come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
Satan = You can try to turn your will and life over to any god or higher power you choose (good luck).
God = You can choose to turn your will and your life over to Jesus and Jesus will set you free.
Satan = Don't worry about taking a “moral” inventory of yourself.
God = Be Holy, because I am Holy, find your sin, admit your sin, turn from your sin and confess your sin.
Satan= You don't need to forgive anyone you are the victim.
God = Forgive others and you will be forgiven by your Father in heaven.
Satan = You don't need to make amends to anyone they hurt you.
God = Before you come to me, go and make things right with your brother.
Satan = You can pray to any god and use any form of meditation you like.
God = You must pray to “Our Father who art in heaven”. You must mediate on God's Word (Jesus) day and night.
Satan = You should only try to help those who have the same problem you have.
God = Go therefore, and make Disciples of all nations...and teach them to observe all that I have commanded you.
Yes, Satan has succeeded in watering down the Christian 12 Steps as they were in the beginning, where people turned their will and their lives over to Jesus Christ, and where the 12th Step stated to “carry the message to others”, not just a particular group. But some of us have kept the original Christian 12 Steps in tact as they were administered in Ohio during the days of Bill W. Dr. Bob and Clarence Snyder.
The original Christian 12 Steps never talked about “recovery” or “recovering”. They always said they were “Recovered” and stated their last names so anyone who wanted to “Recover” could find them.
Think about this, you just had a major operation, you are in the “recovery room” (God knows we all need some time to “Recover”), and two doctors enter your room. One looks like he is full of “Fear”, he tells you that you can never become angry, you have to watch all of your emotions, you have a disease that could not be removed totally and you will have to be in a state of always “recovering”for the rest of your life.
The second doctor looks very calm and relaxed. He tells you that he has experienced all the emotions you have and he will never give you more than you can handle in one day. In fact, he tells you to start living a day at a time and not to worry about tomorrow. He tells you that your operation was a success and that you have “Recovered” and you can go on and live a healthy, normal life. In fact, you can even argue politics and religion. And you will have nothing to worry about because you will always know that He did such a good job and because of this He will be with you always even to the end of time.
Which doctor would you choose?
